INFORMATION JAK - Where we come from. Our home is Charlton in South East London. We were both born in the area and have lived here all of our lives!!! We both took our Primary education in separate schools unaware that in a school just around the corner, the person to partner them in friendship and pop stardom was waiting. Plumstead - Pop Stars Ahoy!! It wasn't until we were eleven that we met. We both attended Plumstead Manor School for Girls which was also the school that the "rock chick" group "Shampoo" attended. Our Education We were always getting involved in all areas of the performing arts available on the curriculum at our school. Although the style of music available to us in music lessons was not quite our thing, we found ways to make percussion funky!! Drama and Dance were two of our favourites!!. We both took Dance as a GCSE and were always "bending" the contempory style rules using pop music as our themes rather than the recommended classical tunes. Drama lessons were an all out free for all whenever we were involved with our Eastenders style sketches. If it wasn't the height of sensationalist shock, then it was no good for these two drama queens!! Singing was not available as an option so we took to doing that in our own free time before and after school and during breaks and lunch hours. Performing at an early age We always jumped on any opportunity to get involved with all types of performance and production. We took part every year in all the talent contests, dance performances and end of year shows . By the time we left school we were no strangers to an audience. The College Years After a tearful goodbye to our secondary school we both attended Bexley College. Unaware of our impending stardom, we took part-time jobs as guest vocalists and dancers at a local night club to give ourselves a little extra pocket money and keep our singing and dancing skills practised to perfection Getting Spotted It was when Katrina entered into a cable television talent show that things changed dramatically. Within days of appearing on "Living Room Legends" she was contacted by 4ground UK and asked to write some lyrics to a pop song they had been working on. Naturally she enlisted Jenni's help straight away and it wasn't long before we had written "Secret Journey". Upon hearing the song over the telephone our Manager asked Katrina to come to the studio for a recording session!!. A Band Formed and United Of course Katrina went nowhere without Jenni, we are joined at the hip!. So once in the studio Katrina asked Jenni to sing some backing vocals on the track. Of course our manager remarked straight away on how well our voices blended and asked us how we would feel about being a band!!! Well it was like a dream come true for both of us we couldn't believe what had happened, we were so excited we wanted to get going straight away. All we needed now was a name....... JaK - So, What's in a name?
You may be wondering why we chose JaK as a name - What does it mean?
Well, that's easy, Jak is "Jenni and Katrina". After toying with the
idea of a name for many weeks we decided that we needed to choose
something that would stick in people's minds. Since we were 11 years
old we have come as a package - Jenni and Katrina. If friends were
talking about us they would never refer to one without the other it
was Jenni and Katrina. Jenni and Katrina became more like one name
